The National Teaching Council on Monday, January 31, 2022 held a stakeholder engagement at Sunset Hotel in Kumasi.

Heads of Agencies, Vice-Chancellors, Principals, Chief Examiners, Academics and Unions were all present.

The programme provided the opportunity to engage our partners on a number of reforms with respect to initial teacher preparation, particularly, the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE) and Ghana Basic Education and Skills Test (GBEST).

The GTLE is undergoing a number of reforms, effective this year. These include the Subject-Based Test (SBT) and Computer- Based Test (CBT). The CBT is to help stimulate candidates’ interactions with the computer, apart from helping reduce cheating to the barest minimum.

The National Teaching Council will in the coming days intensively engage the public on the reforms. We count on the cooperation of all as we take these giant steps in implementing these reforms towards a transformation in our teacher education setup.
